A thick spacer with its own studs that also changes bolt pattern or thread pitch, letting a wheel bolt to a hub it otherwise wouldn't fit. Common for running 5x114.3 wheels on a 4-lug chassis, but it adds unsprung weight and stack height, so quality and hub-centricity matter.
