Backspacing

The distance from a wheel's mounting face to its inner lip, measured in inches. Unlike offset, it factors in wheel width, so it tells you how far the assembly sits toward the suspension. High backspacing tucks the wheel inboard; low backspacing pushes it out toward the fender.
