Apex Seal

The thin, hard strip at each tip of a rotary's triangular rotor that seals against the housing, the Wankel's equivalent of piston rings. Their wear defines a rotary's rebuild interval, and their integrity is why boost, detonation, and oil metering are watched so closely on a 13B.
